This policy explains what personal information VULGAR collects when you use vulgar.monster, why we collect it, and what we do with it. We are based in New South Wales, Australia, and we handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).
What we collect
When you place an order. Your name, email address, delivery and billing address, and phone number if you give one. We also keep a record of what you bought, when, and for how much.
When you pay. We do not see or store your full card number. Payment details are entered directly with our payment provider, who processes the transaction and tells us only whether it succeeded.
When you sign up for drop alerts. Your email address, and nothing else.
When you contact us. Whatever you put in the message, plus your email address so we can reply.
Automatically, as you browse. Standard technical information: IP address, browser and device type, pages visited, and the site that referred you. Your cart and session are stored in cookies so the site can remember what you put in your basket.
Why we collect it
- To take payment, pack and deliver your order, and handle returns or exchanges.
- To answer your questions and provide support.
- To send drop alerts and marketing, but only if you asked for them.
- To keep the site working, secure, and free of fraud.
- To meet our legal and tax record-keeping obligations.
Who we share it with
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with the businesses we need to in order to run the store:
- Our payment provider, to process your payment.
- Our delivery carrier, to get the parcel to you.
- Our web host and email provider, who store the data on our behalf.
- Government agencies or law enforcement, where we are legally required to.
Some of these providers may store or process data outside Australia. Where that happens, we take reasonable steps to ensure your information is handled with protections comparable to the Australian Privacy Principles.
Marketing emails
We only send marketing to people who asked for it. Every marketing email has an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing takes effect immediately. Unsubscribing does not stop transactional emails about an order you have actually placed — order confirmations, dispatch notices and the like.
Cookies
The site uses cookies to keep your cart and session working, and to remember preferences. If you have an account, cookies keep you logged in. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, but the cart and checkout will not work properly without them.
How long we keep it
Order and payment records are kept for at least seven years, because Australian tax law requires it. Marketing subscriptions are kept until you unsubscribe. Enquiries are kept only as long as we need them to deal with the matter.
Your rights
You can ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it if it is wrong, ask us to delete it where we are not required to keep it, or unsubscribe from marketing at any time. Contact us through the contact page and we will respond within a reasonable time, normally 30 days.
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your personal information, you can complain to us first. If you are still not satisfied, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.
Security
The site runs over an encrypted connection, and we take reasonable steps to protect the information we hold. No online service can promise perfect security, so we do not.
Changes
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page. Material changes will be made clear rather than slipped in quietly.
